Mission:

For our Legal Department, we are looking for:

    HEAD OF LEGAL    

He/she is responsible for the identification and monitoring of the legal risks of the  company. He/she ensures the correct interpretation of the legal laws and rules and analyses its impact on Arval Italy in order to proactively support Aral Italy in its growth in full compliance with regulations. He/she is also responsible of ensuring the correct performance of second-level permanent controls in order to mitigate the risks related to the activities of Arval Italy.

  Key Activities:   1. Delivering legal support and legal advice Contract drafting and negotiation with (i) customers relating to the leasing of vehicles and to the implementation of the international customers’ agreements, (ii) all kinds of suppliers (car manufacturer’s, tyres, glasses..., insurers, brokers, office rental agreement, funding…),  and (iii) other contractual partners (brokers, partners, banking networks);Managing all litigations brought or threatened against Arval Italy, except in the field of debt recovery and/or in case the matter is raising fundamental questions and/or in case the matter can be or is subject to an appeal procedure;Supporting Arval Italy in connection with any new project involving legal risks;Managing of the relationship with the law firms, notaries and external legal bodies;Secretarial mattersOrganization and assistance of Board of Directors., Shareholders'  Meeting, etc.; 2. Managing, reporting and escalating legal risksIdentification of the legal risks designation and implementation of appropriate prevention tools (eg. : guidelines, training and e-learning, etc.);Reporting of Major Legal Risks in accordance with BNPP Legal guidelines;Identification of the in-house and external legal resources and the appropriate contributors (within and outside Legal);Compliance with the obligation of vigilance and early alert via the escalation process in accordance with Arval Legal policy;Designation  and implementation of an appropriate governance and control scheme conjointly with the Legal Function of BNP Paribas and Arval Corporate Legal;3. Fostering  of the collaboration with the relevant departments Contribution to new products;Implementation of a coordinated process allowing Legal and other involved departments to share best practices or any relevant information;and more generally any task favoring collaboration within Arval Corporate Legal and within the Legal Function of other BNPP business lines in Italy. 4. Management of the Legal Function within Arval Italy:  Management of the legal budget ;Follow up of the legal budget and establishment of a regular reporting of the legal headcount and costs;Management of the legal team : recruitments, dismissals, training, role definition, objective settings, motivation,, appraisals, career path ;   Skills and Experiences  
  • Degree in Law and, preferably, qualification for the legal profession in Italy;
  • Practice of the profession of lawyer in Italy, multi - year work experience (at least 8 years) in law firms or legal offices of medium - large companies in Italy or Italian public entities, all with responsibility for team management;
  • General knowledge of Italian Civil and Criminal Law and specific knowledge of Italian public and private contracts law, Italian company law, Italian personal data protection  legislation, consumer law and Italian competition law. A knowledge in insurance distribution regulation would be a nice to have.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and engaging skills
  • Experience balancing multiple priorities and demonstrating good organizational skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel (mainly to Milan)
